Do you know who the Pittsburg Pirates are??? They’re a baseball team in the USA and they’ve recently hired two Indian nationals, Dinesh Patel (19) and Rinku Singh (20) for their home baseball team because these two Indians had won a competition in India for being the fastest ball throwers! Cricket is actually the main sport in India and these two guys entered the Million Dollar Arm contestin India to win. Of course, they were thrilled to win the contest but to be signed up to be a part of an American sports team is really a dream come true for them. This is the first time ever that an American sports team has signed up some Indians and they were not even baseball players!
This means that if us, Malaysians could get our act together, we could also have the opportunity to get signed up with an American sports team some day. With baseball though, the Baseball Gloves that is used at the start is really important because it has to be flexible and soft, and with our hot summer weather, it needs to be thin enough to breathe yet thick enough so catching the ball won’t hurt our fingers. Also, sweaty palms will not work well with poor quality gloves. It only means hand sliding within the glove and that wouldn’t be good for ball catching!
