More praises from Lego tutor at the Lego workshop

We attended a free Lego workshop trial today and Tee absolutely LOVED it. When we turned up, we were informed that actually, you could only come if you registered or called first since there was a maximum number to a class and then, the class was supposed to be only for four to six year olds.

[Huh? After telling her excitedly throughout lunch that we were about to play lego, AFTER lunch. IF she finished her lunch. Are you kidding me? Can she not play it for a little while at least? What kind of cruel monster are you to decline a little girl of playing lego??? I’ll pay for it, you stuck up bitch!]

Oh. I didn’t know that. I managed meekly.

A friend at school had informed us about it today so we just showed up. Tee’s jaws dropped to the floor as she’d been looking forward to it since lunch. Seeing her pitiful puppy dog face and hearing her whiny puppy dog voice, the tutor caved in despite Tee being underaged. “Why not???” she laughed. OK lady. For that, I shall sign up for your very expensive lego classes at RM150 per month (for free play and classes everyday).

Tee learnt how to make a construction crane with lego and learnt all the parts instantly – beams, pulleys, axles, blah blah blah (see, even I’ve forgotten already)…….and she followed instructions intently. The tutor was amazed that Tee’s motor skills were so advanced for her age. There were a few four year olds who couldn’t follow instructions in the dozen above four year old class. I thought that this lego exercise was excellent as I could see Tee trying to figure out how to put things together and before the teacher even gave the next instruction, she would be testing different things out with the objective of making a crane.

After completion of the crane, kids got to play educational games on the computer. Initially, the tutor asked me to supervise Tee thinking that she may not know how to use a mouse but I left her to her own devices as I knew she was very good at using the mouse. She played so many games with alphabets and numbers and actually flung me off my chair when she got full marks for all the games.

There was a game where they would show you a dozen animals one by one and you were supposed to click on the alphabet that you think started the name of that animal. She got it all correct, without any help!!! I couldn’t believe it. I’m assuming she knows her phonics then, so it won’t be long before she starts reading. Yahoo!! I can start preserving my gentle songstress voice. Ahem. Then there were join the dots games with numbers or alphabets and other word and colouring games. It was so fun that she didn’t want to leave when class was over.

When we packed up to leave, the tutor came over to ask how far Tee was from her fourth birthday and I told her she had just turned three last month. She couldn’t believe it and said Tee was way advanced for her age. Well, she’s a girl. They usually move faster, I said.

Mummy and Tee left with lots and lots of pride after that till both our heads got jammed at the exit door. So they called the fire engines to release our swollen heads. Phew.
