I used to be a pro at creating perfect keynote presentations except those days, we worked on powerpoint. I used to work for a design firm and being a designer myself, well, we are quite anal and OCD about details. Together with me, my designer sidekick, we would be in charge of all presentations to all the CEO’s in town of all the multinationals who paid us our bread and butter. I have never quite seen more powerful presentations as those that we did once upon a time.
Fast forward 20 years later, I have been working on a presentation to be presented over the next few weekends abroad and I am fumbling with it because I cannot seem to get it to pat! Finally after hours of playing around with it, I whined to the Hubs to get it done for me after getting rejected by my dearest daughter whose excuse was that she needed to study, and he frustratedly took over. Oh, I love him so much!
He grumbled that my presentation was just fine as it was, why was I expecting so much from myself when I wasn’t presenting to CEOs and the people I would present to wouldn’t even comprehend the level of detail that I was attempting to incorporate. Yes, we designers are THAT anal!!! But heck, even when we did perfect presentations, I am quite sure the CEOs never got what perfection went behind the entire presentation anyway.
We designers must have watermarked backgrounds that is related to the audience, font that is relevant, colours that make sense, images that come together to work with the entire purpose and branding of the presentation to the client. And errr…..we always got the job. Heh.
So here I am AGAIN procrastinating and loving to blog instead of finishing up my presentation because I need it to be so perfect that it can be replayed over and over and over again. You know those? The ones where after listening and watching for an hour, you just think, “I AM IN!!!”
Yup. That is the standard I am looking for.
