*burp*
Mamapumpkin style. The trick is in the brand of Bakuteh packet herbs you get. We’ve been trying out a few brands and found one that we’re sticking to for now.
I only cooked this for 2 hours and it was totally done. Perfect.
The Hubs had bought 5 packets of Prime Ribs from Isetan costing RM80 in total. I only used 3 packets weighing in about 1.1kg. You can use up to 1.5kg in this recipe.

Marinate these ribs in a bit of salt.

Peel and smash 2 whole BULBS of garlic. Most restaurants just put the garlic bulb in with it’s skin but I couldn’t do it so I rajin-rajin peeled every single pip. About 40 pips in total. Slice some Dutch button mushrooms if desired (3 mushrooms?). I didn’t have any chinese mushrooms so I just made do with whatever I had.

Rinse the entire bunch of Thong Ho vegetables and clean and cut them up. I wonder how else these are cooked. They are pricey from Bangsar Village at RM6 per bunch!
I totally forgot to get tau foo pok and yow char kuay – can you believe it?!!! SO we just made do without it 🙁
Boil 12 metric cups of water. Dump pork ribs in together with garlic, mushrooms and TWO packets of the magic potion:

Boil everything on high for an hour with the lid closed. Well, if it gets too heated you may want to lower your fire. Or you can even cook it in a crock pot. 1 hour and 45 minutes later, dump the thong ho vegetables in with some sliced coriander and turn off the fire. Oh, and before that, I also added 5 tablespoons of premium soya sauce, a dash of oyster sauce (which really isn’t necessary) and a dash of black sauce.
Bakuteh is ready!
But not ready to be eaten yet….
You need to cook some white rice (hopefully you have the skills to multi-task whilst the bakuteh is cooking, unlike my Mom’s former maid), chop some garlic and chilli padi kampung and as a side dish cook some iceberg lettuce which goes wonderfully well with Bakuteh.
Iceberg lettuce – boil water, dump vegetables in for 10 seconds and remove water. Toss with sesame oil and a dash of oyster sauce.

Mamapumpkin has not only grown corporate businesses successfully in the past but has grown not one but TWO network marketing businesses in the notorious MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, achieving success in under 2 years. She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.
She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
A beautiful life without limits.
If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.
Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.
Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.

Oh I can imagine how yummy it is already! The bak kut teh that my mom makes uses a lot of garlic, I think in a pot, there’s 3 whole bulb of it, not peeled.
I wanted to see the pic of the cooked bakuteh! My MIL used to make killer bakuteh also.THXS FOR SHARING THE RECEPI
