In my last job at the twin towers, we ran a paperless office. Although many people say that it is almost impossible to go paperless, I beg to differ. Because we did it!
I’m sure it didn’t come without heartache and a whales full of sweat. Yet I believe that anything, if planned right, implemented and followed through, has a great chance of success. Just look at the company’s track record and stock price!
Making the decision to purchase the right software in streamlining a business is one such example. Many China-men type businesses here still look at the small picture of cost cutting without seeing the big picture. Sure, purchasing software will cost money. But it is an investment. An investment if rightly constituted, will see your business through leaps and bounds. Why hire an employee full time to key in data when the managers can be trained to do it as and when the need arises.
What is amazing about enterprise software is that it can generate some fantastic reports for analytical decision making. You can even customise it such that only authorised personnel be allowed to enter certain functions through their own individual passwords. The whole organisation is more or less run through an electronic platform.
One of the most critical liabilities of a business is information, and how it flows internally and externally. With proper content management, a business is less likely to falter. I’m talking from experience.
