Toddler swimming skills

Everyone says that when a baby reaches 6 months old, if you want him/her to be a swimmer, to dunk him into the water. But they don’t tell you exactly how. Do you do it slow motion, do you push her head into the water and pull it out within the second, do you throw her in then dive in for her, do you carefully and moderately dunk her and count to three……get what I mean?

So when the time came, I didn’t do it. I didn’t DARE do it. I didn’t know how and I didn’t find out.

Darn.

Because at 3.5 years old today, Tee still can’t swim. She loves water and doesn’t mind being splashed at, can swim play water for three hours straight if we allowed it, but she just refuses to try putting her head under water. She will do it for ONE second or perhaps blow bubbles in the water for a few seconds but this has been happening for the last year. WITHOUT ANY PROGRESS. *sigh*

I really wished I’d dunked her. I don’t even care how now. I used to be a swimmer, now my daughter can’t swim. How can that be? *sigh* Must be Daddy’s genes.

I think that it is really important that she learns how to swim. What shall I do?

And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.

A beautiful life without limits.

Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.

  1. muy uncle threw my cousin into the pool when he was 7 months old. For me, i cannot do it. Better wait for them to learn themself so kesian seeing them struggle in water

  2. Not necessarily that you dunk her in at 6 months and she’ll be able to swim and lurve water. My S1 absolutely loved the water when he was 8 months to about 2 year old. Then suddenly, he refused to go into the pool, saying that he will drown and die!! Thus, had to wait till he was much older and understands that he can float and swim if he controls his limbs and body!

  3. i took brandon to swimming lesson, he didn’t like to be dunked inside the water. whenever i did that, he comes up choking. only signed up for 1 term … 5 lessons, Baby N Me swimming class … no progress and I asked if he wants to continue … he said NO! so we stopped.
