The reason I don’t have enough time

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Coming from a top managerial position, I have always believed that there is always time. You either make it, find it and/or organise your time better. It’s a matter of priorities and decision making. Obviously we only have 24 hours in a day although God do I wish we had more?!, thus we cannot do everything we wish. Sacrifices have to be made. Tasks have to be dropped and some people too, haha!

The reason I don’t have enough time is because Tee is a member of three children’s libraries. The first is the PJ Playcentre Library where she borrows eight books every fortnight. The second is the Book Room at the Julia Gabriel Centre where she borrows 2-3 books on a daily basis should time permit. And the third, three books from the Lake Club Children’s Library, of which you have to be a member of Lake Club first before you can use their children’s library facilities. We go through an average of 20 new books a week. What more, we have our own mini library at home because despite borrowing books, we still buy them. Some books are just worth having for life.

I just bought RM60 worth of second hand books (10 books in total, of course, since I bought so many, I bargained like hell la!) from the Mont Kiara flea market last weekend. They had some excellent books published in the 1960s that you will just not get in the shops today. Like a collection of Aesop’s Fables older stories in brand new condition, an anthology of olden day nursery rhymes (I’ve also not seen this anywhere) and a series of story books that had an underlying message told very well. Like the story of Eleanor Roosevelt and how it pays to be a caring person, for example.

A child education expert once told me that we do not need to teach our children how to read. All we need to do is to read to them from young. It doesn’t matter if they show any interest or not, just keep reading – be lively, be animated, act it out if need be (as some kids are more active learners than visual and audio learners). Whenever your child is ready, she will start ‘pretending’ to read to herself. She would show her interest in opening up books herself and babbling on. Encourage this and one day, voila! you will realise that your child starts picking up certain words through sight and before you know it, she can read simple words. And so on…….

I’ve succeeded in instilling the love of reading in Tee and I am so proud of myself. Hey, that’s my first achievement as a mother, okay?! Allow me to brag!

If you cannot afford the time travelling all over the place looking for great books to read to your child, go to this online bookshop that has been nurtured with a mother’s love and believes in the poem The Reading Mother by a famous American poet:

*this is just an excerpt from the poem*

I had a Mother who read me things
That wholesome life to a child’s heart brings
Stories that stir with an upward touch.
Oh that every Mother were such!

You may have tangible wealth untold
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be.
I had a Mother who read to me.

I totally believe in it too!

She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.

A beautiful life without limits.

If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.

Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.

Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.
Show your support and spread the love!

  1. when i have only my eldest, i used to read everyday but when no2 n no3 pop out, the books starts collecting dust. only recently i managed to dust it off a lil bit. 🙂

  2. Good Job! I feel bad after reading your intro tat says “I have always believed that there is always time. You either make it, find it and/or organise your time better.” Guess I have no more excuses for not reading to my 2 gals!

  3. wow your girl is busy. yes you are right with the time thing. i’m working on my schedule. we do have time, we just allow other things to get in the way.

i encourage reading to your kids as well as your kids reading to you. the only thing i dont like about child experts is that they are not talking specifically about my child.

reading will always be important in life no matter what age you are……
