The First Child

IMG_0025

This, ladies and gentlemen, is my first child.

Can you see that invisible halo above her head? Not only does she have an invisible halo, she has the ability to grow devil’s horns every now and again too when she’s rubbed the wrong way often enough by her younger sister.

Oh, yeah….she can be a total bitch too being pre-pubescent and all.

But you know what? She is my first child, the thing that made me the happiest woman on this planet when I first met her. I just fell so, so, SO MUCH in love with her. Much more than I ever loved the Hubs. Hahaha. He only gets half credit for making such a beautiful child.

My 1st child, she has evolved into a beautiful swan, a pretty butterfly, and is still evolving. From the hairiest and noisiest little baby in the Pantai Hospital Delivery Ward, she was a feisty baby who would cry and scream up to 3 hours when Mama went out for a girl’s night out. I was a full time STAY-AT-HOME-MOM, what did you expect? One goes crazy, OK??? Just imagine, all day everyday with a toddler for company. No adult conversation at all. As much as I loved her and brought her everywhere and did everything, I needed some me time. Heck, I even cooked every single baby meal just for her. No helpers whatsoever and still I had to iron the clothes, clean the floors, clean the mess she would make every single day. She was fond of feeding herself and putting pasta sauce all over her face, hair, armpits…..oh, yeah. If you search back this blog in the mid millenniums, you will see just what adventures me and my T1 got up to on a daily basis.

She was a bright little star speaking very early on. By the age of 14 months, she had a vast vocabulary of more than 150 words. She crawled early too at 6 months and sat at 6 months, but she crawled for ages! They say the more time you spend crawling, the smarter you are due to all that brain mobility exercise but I don’t know if I believe it. T2 didn’t crawl for very long but I still think she’s very bright.

T1, she was the attention grabber, the super star, with all her friends, at school, with family. She LOVED attention. She was confident, boisterous, playful, loud, BOSSY, and self-centred. Oh, yes. She got so much attention from everyone that she thought the entire world revolved around her. Sorry to burst your bubble little missy, but it doesn’t as she has since discovered since T2 was born.

She got extremely jealous. Suddenly she was no longer the little starlet. But she was lucky because she had her Nana and her Uncle Ben who still adored her to no end and whilst Mama and Dada took care of T2 who had so many problems as a baby, T1 was still a happy child. And whilst we were all too busy taking care of T2, T1 suddenly blossomed into that softer spoken, gentler child. A pre-pubescent young lady. She has a maturity beyond her years and is extremely kind and helpful towards people, so much so that I am sure that she is my Mother reincarnated.

T1 is a sensitive old soul who touches my heart in every way ever single day. Forced to grow up way too fast last year due to my illness, she did it graciously, cooking dinner when she had to, taking care of her sister when she had to, even now when she knows I am in a mood, she is switched on enough to keep T2 away from me without me having to give her a signal or before waiting for me to blow my top. Little girls can be rather annoying, yes. They do overwhelm me sometimes. Mine does anyway! So T1 is a true blessing…..she just knows when to press my buttons and she always gets them right. When I am not well, she would automatically massage my fore head (if I have sinus problems) or massage my back (if I am feeling stiff). You know, old age….she will bring me anything that I want and do anything that I ask. She is just AMAZING!!! I love her to no end!!!

And if you think she is a pushover because she does everything for me, you are so wrong, because this girl knows how to tell me off in a nice way. She doesn’t tell me off but she reminds me when I am about to gorge myself with a huge piece of chocolate cake that it may not be the best decision; or when I walk into an Hermes store, she would remind me that my fads don’t last. Huhuhu. And I always tell her she’s so boring but it truly is no water off her back. She is as self-assured as she is independent and knows what to say to make me crack up till my sides ache. Oh, can you just tell how much I love this girl??? She is my best friend truly!!! When I have a problem, she sensibly gives me a solution. When I am sad, she comforts me with her gentleness and logic. When I am crazy, she calms me down. How blessed I am to have such a daughter so thank you God. I will always appreciate her and love her till eternity, my Golden child.

The reason I decided to write about my first child is she has just turned 11 a week ago and I just cannot believe how beautifully she is growing up. Can you imagine she is in Secondary School? She is also growing so tall and has begun to blossom in her curves yet she watches what she eats (very disciplined about eating healthy food, yes!) and very sensible when it comes to sleep and her work. What can I say that is bad about her? She cleverly bullies her sister whenever we are not watching. Hah! She isn’t THAT good!!! But we still adore her nevertheless and know that T2 can get annoying. Heh.
