How often are we faced with decisions in life that make us think twice or thrice or for a very long time for that matter, before parting with something that matters to us? Be it knowledge, information, material goods or matters of the heart; we all make decisions that lead our lives into a particular direction.

Cause and effect.

What goes around will definitely come around. I truly believe that.

Today, this friend gave me something that I will always be grateful.

Allow me to tell you a story:

My mother had a childhood friend who always asked for favours and only knew how to take, take and take. Enough was enough, and being the protective children that we were, always advised her to stop giving to people who did not only appreciate what was given but used it against her. WTF?!

After numerous bouts of silences in this friendship (due to continuous taking), this friend finally showed up one day to borrow a few thousand dollars.

“Don’t lend her the money!!” we wailed. “You will never see it again!”

She never did, of course.

My mother’s response?

“It’s OK. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have known what a stock market was. I will always be grateful for that.”

I love my mother, I truly do. She has taught me gratitude of infinite boundaries

Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture.
