Have any of you ever tried smoking shisha? I’ve always wondered what the big deal was and was always curious about the contraption of a hookah. You don’t know what a hookah is? A hookah is a shisha pipe and shisha is the stuff that you smoke from the hookah. There you go. Learn something new everyday.

What exactly do you smoke? What gives these people so much pleasure smoking shisha? Is it like smoking cigarettes? Or is it like smoking pot? So I’ve learnt that what you smoke is flavoured! Oh, is it like those Indonesian clove cigarettes? Well, you can actually choose your flavours! Strawberry, cherry, cinnamon, earl grey, mixed fruit etc etc etc. Now THAT is a lot of choices!

So where does the hookah originate from? It was originally from India, would you believe it, but is now more popular in the Middle East and that is why most people assume that it is a middle eastern thing. These days, of course, you can get it anywhere, even in KLCC Malaysia!

Another thing I’ve always wondered is how they clean the shisha pipe. Do they open it all up into little bits (what a pain!) or can you just spray a power water jet through it to flush it clean, you know, like colon cleansing? There are also so many variable pipes available, different designs, different qualities and some of them are really beautiful! Of course, if you pay US10 for a Made in China knock off, it’ll end up rusting after awhile and pieces will start falling apart but if you paid US120, you can be assured an almost life long hookah!

So……how many of you have smoked a hookah??? I haven’t and I’m not sure if I will ever get the opportunity to try but you never know!
