This week I’ve been on a toy selling frenzy and although I’ve only managed 10% of the toys available in this home of ours, it feels good when I see physical space coming available – YAHOO!!!
I feel sorry for T2 because she sees some toys that are already sold on the dining table and asks to play with them. But really, who needs so many toys??? Not us. It’s like me having so much clothes! Of which 90% are not even worn!!! What is the point?
I’m on a mission to SIMPLIFY our lives.
We really don’t need much to survive and be happy. When we have less, there is more quality.
And look! I’ve started the ball rolling with these 2 babes online – go check out Jacss stash and Dinah’s stash (and for those of you who missed out on the IKEA roller coaster bead toy thingy here at Mamapumpkin, Dinah has one unit for sale. Go quick before you miss out again). Thank you to those of you who were quick to bank in the cash, apologies to those who missed out. There will be more in time…..
Moving on
Imagine 10 toys in front of T1. She will go through each one and get entertained and probably will find one or two she likes better than others. And an hour goes by. Imagine another scenario whereby she has NO toys. We actually had this problem today. We were out and she was bored.
BORED!!!
To me, therein lies the problem. It is EXACTLY the fault of all these toys that my daughter knows how to be bored. I have always believed that if you can get bored, then you are truly lazy and boring. And yes, I do too sometimes get bored……
So what did we do since we had no toys to entertain ourselves? We brainstormed together to think what we could do. We got a piece of scrap paper and a pen and started playing Pictionary where she drew objects and I guessed and vice versa. Then we played hangman. Then we used our aural skills to describe objects and the other person had to guess what it was (a bit like the game Taboo). And whilst doing that, we had a lot of fun because they all involve thought processes and trust me, you will have fun with it. It is a natural consequence.
Sometimes, we imagine…….we ask a question, like what kind of a car would we design? Then think of how it would work and I’d challenge T1 on why her ideas won’t work. And she’d think harder for solutions. The logic part of her brain is strong.
So what would you like to develop in your child this year? Her emotional being? His organisational skills? Her memory? His compassion? Her creativity? Toys and the idiot box can only help you so far…….
I’ll be shot down by commercialism but we really don’t need toys. Not even one.
And through pure observation, I can already see that T2 is a baby who is more interested in the world around her than T1 ever was, and I cherish that more than anything.
But I still want that new Chanel bag (Mommy’s toy) 😛
**************************************************************************Who is Mamapumpkin?
Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture. She then spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this blog of over 15 years thereafter returning to the Corporate World stronger than ever as the Country Director of a British Multinational. She sets out to prove to all, that you can have anything and everything that you want; if you have that fire of desire burning within and the drive to work hard. Even better with much love.
Mamapumpkin has not only grown corporate businesses successfully in the past but has grown not one but TWO network marketing businesses in the notorious MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, achieving success in under 2 years. She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.
She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
A beautiful life without limits.
If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.
Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.
Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.

i totally agree with you. a friend of mine only have lego sets as his toy and nothing else.
Eh, then those pondering to buy your toys will have 2nd thoughts. Not quite a good marketing strategy for your shop, eh?
😀 HAHAHAHA… Sy echoes my thoughts.
That being said, my kids can play with just a handkerchief. Oh..the mischief they get up to.
