My daughter, the great saleswoman….

I have been told by previous clients that I am a really good sales person (aka good crook). They’d make me offer after offer to pull me over but I was never driven by dollar signs alone. *smack head, silly woman!*

Having a talent for selling, I believe that once you can sell, you can sell anything. It is one of my very few skills, and now, it appears that Tee has inherited some of this talent in being a good crook.

Last Sunday, the Hubs was watching TV in the living room. I was on my laptop in the bedroom (surprise! surprise!). Tee was in between, approaching my bed.

“Mummy, can I go swimming, please?” she asked ever so sweetly.

Passing the buck, knowing he would almost say no as he wasn’t feeling well, I instructed her to go ask her Daddy. And me? Well, there is just no way I am showing off my new blubber suit, fashion statement or not.

“OK!” she ran out to ask her Daddy. 10 seconds later, she was back in my room. “Daddy, said YES!”

“Are you sure he said yes?” doubting her response and extremely surprised that he would have said yes.

“YES!” nodding with glee.

“Alright then. Go get changed.”

She ran into her room, yanked the drawers open and pulled a floral baby swimsuit out from her collection. Ran back into my room and stripped in record time. Asked me to help her with the swimsuit, which I did, all these while asking her if she was REALLY sure that Daddy was taking her swimming.

“YES!” she kept beaming with enthusiasm.

“Why isn’t Daddy coming in to change if he is taking you swimming?” I queried suspiciously.

So she ran out to him again and 5 seconds later, ran back in to suggest, “Why don’t YOU take me, Mummy?”

Hmm. For a split second, I wondered if the Hubs had suggested that or if it was just Tee being super-impatient. I told her I couldn’t and that she had to wait for Daddy. So she waited beside me, on my bed, with innocent thinking eyes twiddling her thumbs.

5 minutes passed and there was still no sign of Daddy. I asked Tee again if she was really, REALLY sure that Daddy was taking her swimming. She nodded with conviction so I put it to him having trouble getting his arse off the couch. The poor girl – sitting and waiting patiently on my bed for water play like she was waiting for the results of an unwanted pregnancy.

Just as I was about to get up to pull a dynamite on the Hubs behind, he stumbled in groggily into the bathroom. Tee squealed in excitement and grooved her Jamiroquai moves.

So they went swimming.

AHHHhhhhhhh……………..peace at last.

Today the Hubs told me that he knew he shouldn’t have brought her swimming as Tee was showing signs of an oncoming flu. Then why did you agree, I asked. Apparently, he didn’t. But when he later saw Tee all geared up in her swimsuit with her little swimming basket all packed, he didn’t have the heart to break her incy wincy teeny weeny heart.

What do you think? Did she manipulate us or what???

The positive side to this is that I know she has a knack for getting her deals done.

  1. LOL!! She sure knows how to manipulate mom & dad!

Her grand-Dad says we are useless. The kid is thinking 10 steps ahead and we can’t keep up with her. *scratching head*

  2. Tee is manupulative, smart and witty! She’s going to outsmart you & hubs & give you loads of migraine when she grows up LOL!

The Hubs and I are already planning all the contingency plans. We are expecting some major dramas when she hits 12. We’re talking MAJOR dramas….

Oh no! I’m catching the tag disease! You’ve tagged me? I can’t find it leh.

  4. Tee’s got daddy wrapped around her little finger eh?? hehe… Mine’s like that too. Her daddy can’t say no to her either. : )

Tee’s Daddy advises me sometimes, “don’t give in to her. She has to learn.” But then when she goes to him, macho man turns into jelly.
