Have you ever been down and out and close to thinking that life is no longer gratifying, and that every corner you turn throws you a hard punch on your nose, and you feel so alone because nobody really understands what it is you’re going through, or how hard you have to fight just to make an inch of progress?

If you have and have managed to get out of that state, you are very lucky. Because it is almost always when you’re down and out when you discover who your true friends (including family members) are. People tend to gravitate away from trouble and that means, although they may appear to be very helpful in the beginning, their endurance wears thin after awhile and you don’t hear from them again. Sometimes, they are busy but in the most critical of situations, even the most busy takes 1 minute out of a day to send an sms to say something that will lift the spirits of the victim.

From here, you will know. You will know who your true friends/family are when you get to compare the depths of what some people will do for you, stick their necks stretched to its limits way out for you, or do very little. On the flipside, when everything is hunky dory and you’re on your way up in society and seen with a lot of glamorous or powerful people, suddenly everyone wants to be your friend and will carry the carpets you walk on. These people are very easy to detect, the social climbers, to me anyway because I have strong intuition.

Someone I know is in crisis and because of that, I have been getting very little sleep. I have also taken risks so could be behind bars or charged in court because the other party is playing dirty games. But I always believe that goodness prevails so no matter how dirty you play, someone is watching from above.I have been staying away from my own home and spending very little time with Tee (and bless the Hub for being the best hubs ever), I have been working on a lot of legal documents. It is all draining and tiring and stressful. But this is what you do for someone you love who is in trouble.

I’d also like to thank another friend of mine and certain family members who have been so loyal and willing to take such risks together. Only a very, very small fraction of this society has not only the loyalty but the balls of steel to stick up for what is right, to be selfless enough to give up their time for someone elses benefit and to do it solely for that person and not for their own martyrdom and ego building.

Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture. She then spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this blog of over 15 years thereafter returning to the Corporate World stronger than ever as the Country Director of a British Multinational.
