Making them The Children of Tomorrow

My name is Ngu Wah Aung, I’m 15 years

old and am in Grade 10. My native place is

Phoa Gyi, Mawbee Township. My father

passed away when I was 3 years old but

my Mom is alive.

After my father pass away, my Mom alone

who was struggling to support for family

living and our education. When we brother

and sisters were getting higher grade in

school, Mom became more difficult to

support us seem. In those situation, I was

in Grade 8, I was planning to find work to

help my Mom but my Mom did not allow

me to do it. I have seven brothers and sisters.

My Mom told me that we all must study to be educated children. Mom told me to find some orphanages where we brothers and sisters could stay and continue our study. First time, when I heard the word orphanage, I felt bitterness in my heart very badly but I had no option. Finally, I have found the place where we sisters to stay and study which was Hosanna Children Home under Reverend Sein Kyi and Ruby.

When I got to Hosanna Children Home, I felt so sad but later on I have learned that Reverend Sein Kyi and Ruby were giving us a parent’s caring and love which made me greatly comfort and happy. They care us as their own children warmly.

Right now, I am in Grade 10. While I am studying, I do not want to waste my time but to help my fellow children because I was growing up in this kind of children home. I have decided to take care of children who has no parents to care them when I could accomplish my study.

I would like to study English speaking as much as possible. When I have learned it, I will teach other children and even will teach outsiders. Teaching English speaking can earn money which would be used for Children’s Home. I have a burden to taking care of children home kids because I also grew up in children’s home.

Thank You.

In April, after we had our Children of Myanmar Children’s Bazaar at Bangsar Village, we asked the Children of Myanmar to write us proposals, each one of them who were 15 years old and above, why they thought they deserved a scholarship to study further. We support 280 kids in Myanmar. We were planning to single out maybe 3-5 star students after reviewing their proposals, then offer them scholarships to further their studies be it anything they want to pursue, and in turn, their promise was to eventually earn and support their younger counterparts at the home.

However, after reading each and every proposal letter from the Children of Myanmar, our hearts could not give the scholarships to just a handful of kids. These are children HUNGRY to learn. Even in darkness, in cold wet rain when there were only 2 light bulbs that had to be moved around the room with a wire just so they could see their books, they did not want to stop. Even when their teacher was ready to cancel the rest of the lessons for the day, they pleaded for her to continue. They just want so much that opportunity to learn and be educated.

For they know that education is the key.

So instead, we have decided to pay for them all to pursue whatever it is they want to pursue. Step by step. English classes. Sewing classes. Photography. Computer Classes. You name it.

In 2 weeks time, T1 and I return to Yangon to see the Children of Myanmar for yet another workshop in inspiring them, giving them hope, loving them and making them the future of tomorrow.

I. CAN. NOT. WAIT.
