People are always asking me how I make money from this blog and I keep having to repeat myself. In fact, within my 6 years of blogging, there must be several posts within this blog that talks about making money from blogging as a Mom. And then lots of verbal diarrhoea in between *grins*.

Here it is again, how I make money from blogging:-

1. Google Adsense (I removed Google Adsense for 6 months to see if I would get more offers from others as an experiment but the result is that I haven’t. Thus I will be reinstalling Google Adsense again when I finally find the time to do it.)
2. Writing Sponsored Posts – these are paid posts that come from either Blog Agents, Social Media Agents or Direct Advertisers who write to me to ask me to write a post for a fee. My fee ranges from RM500-1500 per post depending on how much work is involved. I also write for free if it is for a worthy cause and I will only accept products if they are useful to me.
3. Sponsored Links – these again are paid links to be installed anywhere in my site. So far all my links come from American sponsors and they pay USD150-300 per link for a year. I’ve also signed up with Text Link Ads who are good paymasters who weave in strategic links within the blog posts very subtly.

How much can one make from blogging? Is making money from blogging real and can I depend solely on its income? It depends on how popular your blog is and how hardworking you are! My blog isn’t that popular by my standards but the strength of my blog is that its’ readership has grown organically. This is a good thing because I have not spent any time marketing the blog or activating tools that enhances blog SEO nor have I installed software to increase visitor counts etc. All I have done is randomly write from the heart for 6 whole years and since it has earned me an income, great!

Just to give you an idea though, if you have a unique visitor count of more than a hundred thousand, you can earn up to RM40,000 per month. There is actually a Mom who earns this much but it isn’t me (Boohoohoo!!!). In my hey days, the max I ever earned from the blog for a few months consistently was RM12,000 per month. People are always asking me how many hits I get. When people ask this question, I know they have no idea what they are talking about. The right question to ask is what is your UV – Unique Visitor Count.

The good thing about making money from blogging is that if you actually do like to write (which I LOVE), you are inherently earning from a passion. And the better thing about it is that there is exponential growth. So whilst I may only make the same income as an entry level graduate right now (although this is inconsistent because during the Christmas season, offers are more etc), one day I will earn as much as a CEO. Having a marketing background will help. Having an IT background will also help. But most of all, if you want to make blogging your livelihood, passion, hard work and persistence; without any skills, you can still succeed making money from blogging. One of my blogging friends who started out the same time as me didn’t know how to set up a blog then but with long hours in front of the computer and many, MANY sleepless nights, she is now earning steady income from her incredible hard work.

On my last trip to Perth, I told a blog SEO guru what my UV was, then only 8,000 and he was impressed. Later this figure climbed to 14,000 and now it is averaging 20,000. So you see? Hard work and persistence. One day, insyaallah, I will reach my 100,000 target. Thank you all for coming back and your tremendous support!

One piece of advice though, don’t expect it to happen immediately. Instant success isn’t real. I blogged hard for a whole year before I sniffed my first USD.
