Kenduri in Kelantan

Whilst in Kelantan, we were forced by my in-laws to attend a Malay Kenduri in the blazing heat so off we squeezed into Kong-Kong’s old Volkswagon Beetle with sighs and slouched shoulders, off to a wedding whom we had no idea who was who. The moment we arrived, straight backs ascended and the tips of our mouths turned north, on both sides.

I’ve not been to many kenduris in my life but this one in Kelantan had no cutlery, which was fine for an expert like me, but not for the posh Hubs. So they had to specially go find him some cutlery *hides in shame* – Ni kan budak Kelante ni!

Despite being in kampung town Kelantan, the women in their glittery baju kurungs were carrying Prada and Gucci, even Loubie heels, OK??? I was wondering, were they really from KL and just visiting??? Everyone spoke Malay and everyone ate with their hands. There were little water stations where you could wash your hands with and soap provided.

Then suddenly one Datuk came up to our table to ask when we were going to have our next child. *gulp* I bravely smiled and shook my head, hands up in the air and said, “No more!! No! No!! No!!!” Why put false hope with my in-laws, right?

Then the Datuk looked at the Hubs and said, “It’s very simple. Just ask your parents for a few million and you will get them a grandson!”

Did you feel my awkward moment?

Suddenly there was laughter all around and I could feel my in-laws daggering the Datuk, don’t put such ideas into their heads, but the Datuk continued, “It’s true! We have a mutual friend. He told his parents, give me a million and I will get you a grandson. And he got one! He got his million too! Try it!”

At that point I was asking the ground to just swallow me.

More laughter (and silence) ensued and the Datuk left to greet other guests…….

We don’t need such drama. See? T2 is just happy to cross the bridge backward and forward at the Kenduri. I couldn’t be happier with my two girls. I don’t need a son and I certainly don’t even need a million.

She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
