Honestly???????????????????
Just let them CRY IT OUT!!!
At 5 years old, the kids are old enough to manipulate you and pretend that they would die without you. As long as there is no real reason they are crying, and you can always verify the genuineness of their complaint by checking, then just stick with the plan and let them CRY. If they are smart, they will figure it out very quickly, as Tee has.
So…..we were on Day Two on sleep training Tee. She cried 30 minutes less than Day One. That was 1.5 hours of crying. Real loud sobbing and Tamil drama wails……She still came out of the bedroom with one million and one reasons and complaints but we sent her back each time with more threats. The threats never worked but nevertheless, she eventually went back into bed. Crying, no doubt.
But on Day Three???What happened on Day Three? I was prepared to get stressed for 14 days as this is normally the time it takes for a kid to get sleep trained. Day Three…….Day Three……….Day Three……..???
There were NO tears.
No TEARS???
NO TEARS!!!!
Not only were there no tears, she just obediently went into bed and stayed in bed. When I checked, she was already asleep with her bear eleven and Nana’s quilt.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. I wasted FIVE FUCKING YEARS of my life, putting this nutcase to sleep every single night, sometimes taking up to 2 hours before she knocked off. If only I had sleep trained her earlier!!! I could have done so much more of ANYTHING!!!
Now, well…..it’s only Day Three, so I won’t talk so much yet since things could always move backwards, but, but, but…..these last 3 days have been brilliant! I send Tee to bed at 8pm and I am FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE after that!
T2 is easy. Stuff her the boob and she’ll shut up.
Why didn’t any of you tell me to sleep train Tee earlier???!!!!!!
Why? Why? WHY?

Mamapumpkin has not only grown corporate businesses successfully in the past but has grown not one but TWO network marketing businesses in the notorious MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, achieving success in under 2 years. She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.
She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
A beautiful life without limits.
If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.
Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.
Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.

Don’t be mad at yourself. Be proud and be loud about it!
Just remember to do the same to T2. Or else.. no lessons were learnt here! π
Plus…no point ppl telling u what to do IF you’re not ready. Yup..it’s you who needs to be ready..not the child. Kids are like dogs..can train when they’re still young.
HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Because you didn’t know me earlier. I’m those Nazi mums who is totally self-centred so I would do ANYTHING to sleep-train my kids. Do be aware that they can do this obediently for 1month and regress (Bryan’s case) but persistence is key!
hehehehe i m same as PL. I m very mean. Sleep means sleep. if u wanna cry, cry. So philip sleeps on his own..However same bed. Once I move to my new place, i will be hitler again..cos i will let him sleep in a different room.
hahaha…ur post is now motivating me to sleep train my lil one too…i too waste one to two hours daily waiting for my son to fall asleep π
LOL!! Yay to Tee and to mamapumpkin π
And I thought I had it bad, rocking and patting a 6-month old for about 10 mins to sleep in her cot every night!
i cannot let my kids cry too long.. or else my neighbour will report police.. child abuse wor. hahahah siao. but i am hoping to train both my monkeys to sleep in thier own room so i can go back to my kind size bed.
Aiyayaya, it’s all my fault! I should have tell you earlier π (I did share in my blog though) I sleep trained my boy when I was exepcting number two …and my boy sleeps in his own room since he was only two. Yeah, no other ways; Just let him cry for at least 30 mins.. sometimes one hour π
Hi Big Pumpkin,
Congratulations for sleep training T. Not a method I would personally use – sounds awful! And since you are asking, let me refresh your memory… Why didn’t you sleep train her earlier? Because you tried when she was under 1 year old and the sound of her crying was so heartbreaking that you vowed “Never again!”. I was there, I remember as if it were yesterday. Obviously, things have changed now with T2 and you need rest even more. So, good for you!
O..O… i must stared to sleep train Megan now. π
You keep the light on or off?
