The truth is, I cannot believe how happy I am ever since I started working again! For almost seven years, I dedicated my life to serving kids and I gave it my all, and it was great! There is something to learn in everything and I certainly learnt heaps being a full time STAY-AT-HOME-MOM. The tireless, endless demands from children, the boring, monotonous one-way conversations when they are babies, the infinite diaper changes and cleaning up of scattered cookie crumbs or tossed dinners, the ear-piercing cries and tantrum-y screams, the crankiest of cranky when they are sick, oh……..I could go on. But it was great! There was tremendous joy in the whole experience and there is nothing like being hands-on. Like I’ve said before, it is completely different when a mother wipes a bum as opposed to someone else. My two kids are very, VERY lucky that I wiped all their bums and STILL do despite having a half-day Nanny.

So.

I have officially started work. I’ve been doing it undercover for almost 2 months now and I feel energized, refreshed, stimulated, happy to wake up every morning at 630am (REALLY!) and walk with a bounce to my step, even if a heavy bounce. I LOVE WORKING!!! It gives me a BUZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz……….

I truly had not realised how much I’d missed the corporate rat race.

But now that I’m working, of course, there is less time for everything; the kids, the Hubs, the family, friends, myself. And I am such a workaholic. I guess you can say it’s an even bigger challenge now whilst I strive to do a damn good job at work and with the kids.

Like today, I spent 2 whole hours bouncing on bed with the kids, playing Doctor. First, there was a performance by the kids, absolutely hilarious! T1 was performing some songs with her own choreographed actions and I must say, she is very good! T2 bopped alongside her and just copied everything she did – double bonus of joy!

I was thoroughly impressed but after the 32nd song, I was about to fall asleep. Come on, I only get 3-5 hours sleep per night so cut me some slack. But yeah, I had to stop her because I was so tired, not that she lacked entertainment quality at all, but I was truly tired.

So they decided to play Doctor where I was the patient who just lay there. Doctor T1 and Doctor T2, busy taking my temperature with the magnetic temperature strip, checking all areas of my body. At one point, T2 sat on my tummy and just started bouncing up and down. Doctor T1 quickly explained that Doctor T2 was her associate Doctor, and that she was trying to expel gas out of my body after which I warned Doctor T1 that she might want to warn Doctor T2 that the patient had just consumed an abundance of mushrooms thus if gas were to expel, it could take them both out.

Pure Hysterics. T2 just joins in the fun and copies everything her sister does. They get along so well and play so well and for that, I am blessed.

When I am frigging busy meeting busy deadlines at work, T1 is the best babysitter because T2 looks up to her and they can just stay away from me and play for an entire hour themselves. Unless, T2 is tired. Then……

So, yeah! Early days yet, but loving it already.
