Those of you who’ve been to my home may have noticed the two dozen wind chimes I have hanging between my living room and my balcony. I used to collect them many years ago. I still do, kind of, except that it’s the least of my priorities right now. Somewhere down on the list like next to getting my years of photographs organised. Oh, yes. I have wind chimes from every country I’ve visited and friends and family buy me a wind chime whenever they are abroad. I have a camel wind chime from the Middle East, a frog in parachute wind chime from a frog lover, a hand-made wind chime that T1 made and many, many more!
Sometimes when it is about to rain, without looking at the sky, we already know it from the melodies of all my wind chimes singing a harmony of tunes. And when the wind power is very strong, the wind chimes form a more aggressive clank of bells – that’s when we know it’s THUNDERSTORM time! And then I have to run to shut the balcony glass door before things start breaking! Because we are located on a hill, the wind power can get pretty strong. Roof tiles have flown before….and the wind has blown things off in my kitchen, 10 metres away from the balcony!
My wind chimes are now getting old. Some of them are still decent but some of them are so old that the strings break or they fall apart. I have plans to replace a whole new collection of wind chimes (despite the Chinese believing that too many wind chimes are bad feng shui!) and especially want the Music of the Spheres wind chimes that actually plays REAL music when the wind power is high enough. It’s enough to send me to Zen land…..Mmmm……beautiful!
