Today is August 12. Eighteen more days before I can have my freedom back. I’m really counting the days, not being used to having someone control my life. I’m not even allowed to switch the computer on and you all know how torturous that is for me! I can’t even check if I have advertising offers and need my friends to sms me to inform me that they’ve booked offers for me. Bless your hearts, my dear friends. You are truly gems and I thank you with all my heart.
According to CCM, the computer will give me a headache but I’ve been secretly on my laptop late at night in my bedroom and no headache has come because of me using the laptop. Of course, I can’t do this every night because I am too darn tired by the time it is 8pm. C’mon! My body is immune to the dangers of a computer. I can be on it 14 hours and STILL not get any ailments.
Then I complained to the Hubs that I get this pounding headache every time I breastfeed but it disappears soon after. I looked it up and apparently sometimes, the surge in oxytocin causes that headache in some women. I happen to be one of those women. The CCM has to add that she has never heard of such a thing and that I must be really weak. Yes, I am the weak one that doesn’t have enough milk and has slow milk let down. Actually, I DO have enough milk (we’re getting a poop or several poops after every feed and lots of wet nappies, plus she’s gaining weight) and my let down is fine (it comes within seconds) but sometimes, the baby latches on slow because of her tiny mouth and this is mistaken for faults of my body. My baby, sometimes she latches on at first bite, sometimes it takes a bit longer. I assumed that was normal….especially with someone who has such a small mouth.
Coincidentally, the Hubs bumped into my Doctor at the supermarket last night so told her about my breastfeeding headaches. She said, “Oh, that’s very normal.” She feels that it may go away once my body gets adjusted to breastfeeding, otherwise, take some painkillers and get some rest.
My maid of honour wanted to visit me tomorrow and asked what goodies I wanted her to bring. Cake? Chocolate? Name it! I told her I wasn’t allowed visitors till the baby was at least 2 weeks old and I wasn’t allowed any goodies AT ALL and I wasn’t even allowed to use the computer, upon strict instructions of the CCM. The reaction from someone who’s had two confinement ladies in her life?
“Oh My God!! That’s not a confinement lady. That’s a confinement monster!!!”
Hence the name, Chinese Confinement Monster…….
OK. To be fair, she has been cooking me some wonderful food on the table that has really served me well as I have good milk, thick and creamy…..I owe it to the food that she’s cooked for me, except that on week 2, she now makes my helper do the same cooking and of course, it doesn’t quite turn out the same! In fact, Filipinos seem to like their fish and chicken super fried and super dry! Yuck!
See? Even T2 shares my sentiments…..

Who is Mamapumpkin?
Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture. She then spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this blog of over 15 years thereafter returning to the Corporate World stronger than ever as the Country Director of a British Multinational. She sets out to prove to all, that you can have anything and everything that you want; if you have that fire of desire burning within and the drive to work hard. Even better with much love.
Mamapumpkin has not only grown corporate businesses successfully in the past but has grown not one but TWO network marketing businesses in the notorious MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, achieving success in under 2 years. She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.
She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
A beautiful life without limits.
If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.
Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.
Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.

heheehhe u know what..i actually liked my confinement period…cos u get meals cooked, served hot to ur bedside..n get to sleep…anyway 18 more days..it will pass by like a breeze.. take care
i hated my confinement! And my CCM was like yours, kept on saying my body is weak etc etc…..and she kept on invading my privacy, would come knocking on my bathroom door if I have been in there too long………30 days felt like 30 weeks or more! Hehe, T2 is so cute. What’s her real name?
I hate confinement too… 4 weeks of no hair washing and my PIL say “NO TV, No computer…go lie down” ..argh…. how I dreaded it, and my turn will come soon.
i enjoyed confinement, baby was fine but i hated the confinement lady. I had 3 in a row, can you beat me to it ? I don’t likee,, i boot them out and I did that TWICE !! I guess the confinement monster was me, not the confinement lady.. hahaha..
Chinese Confinement Monster is darn funny!!! On the bright side, she’s protective of you because she just wants you to be healthy always 😉
u so kuai listen to your Confinement Lady one ah? haha….
funny that i m the only one in the world who likes confinement, being so rebellious to all the chinese do and dont. For me, CL is just here to cook and take care of anything else, not to control my freedom and my happiness, hehe….
I had no confinement monster. Have to say, doing everything yourself, also sucks.
But, if she helps your body heal in the long term..don’t fight it. Go with the flow……. think of a McSteamy…
Huh, no visitors until week 2? I’ve not heard of that. In fact my visitors came the same day I had delivered! Is that a taboo?
Seriously, you could lie down and take all those crap? I’ve been thru 3 CL in 2 post-partum and my end word is, I’ll do whatever I like since I’m paying you.
Tia is gorgeous… massive eyes! Can’t wait to meet her! Good to see you are well and taken care of! xo
Haahah, the conclusion tickles me!
I don’t care about confinement either and washes my hair every single day cos it was soooo hot and I felt so sweaty!
I cooked my own food and decided that should I have a 3rd child, good riddance to confinement! Only ruins relationships! 😛
congrats on the baby!
