Back in hospital again….

The good thing about being in hospital is that the patient more often than not is drugged out and sleeps, and then the Mommy can actually access her laptop because there is really nothing else to do in a hospital room apart from digging your nose, practicing silent farts (especially if you dare consume hospital food) or meditate. None of which I have experience with. OK, truth be told, I’ve done it so much I’m bored immuned already. There, I’ve admitted it.

This time it’s not T1 but T2!! Heck, can you believe it? YEAH!!!

Whilst the Hubs was ill with his viral infection and T1 dazed with fever (which escalates at night only, daytime she has a fever but can move and talk), T2 was warm yesterday but more importantly, had a dog bark’s cough. By midnight, she was running a fever of 38 and all night last night, she couldn’t sleep because she had problems breathing. She was wheezing so bad and kept wanting the boob all night that I knew something was not right. I forced down some paracetamol into her baby lips at 3am which brought the fever down but by 6am, she was running 39 degrees and her wheezing was akin to the F1 cars racing at the tracks, that I panicked and brought her into the hospital myself, praying she wouldn’t get MY asthma one day.

T1 and the Hubs were fast asleep, I didn’t wake them up. I just left and as soon as I arrived, they (were wondering where T1 was) put T2 on a nebuliser, which was really funny because she refused it so it took 2 adults to hold her down and 1 nurse to keep following her mouth and nose with the nebuliser for a whole 5 minutes! Believe me, she kept pushing it away and turning her head left right left right until I was sure we were going to see her head rolling on the floor soon. Then she refused to open her mouth for the Doctor to check and kept her lips pursed tight – Mmmmm. The Doctor looked at me after several tries and I knew what he was thinking, whether he should dare ask me if he could stick a toothpick into her mouth to force it open, like how they keep alligators mouths open, y’know? Eventually, we had to make her cry and hold her down again so that she’d open her mouth. This baby learns fast. Now, the moment she sees the nurses approaching, she’d cling on to me and start crying. To her, they are those Star Wars Stormtroopers coming to get her. Poor thing. Just wait till she gets her next dose of meds……

She was diagnosed with a case of bronchiolitis, which is an infection of the small air sacs of her lungs. If she doesn’t get better by this evening, they want to draw blood. Poor T2, as though she doesn’t suffer enough already having to deal with Stormtroopers, she may have to deal with vampires too.

The Doctor asked how T1 was and I informed him that she is still running a fever but otherwise is as good as new. He thinks that it is likely that she is suffering from post-trauma fever and that we have nothing to worry about. PHEW. In any case, all test results come out tomorrow and we’ll hit home run. Now, we just have to get T2 sorted. I hope we only have to stay here for one night. There is only so many nights I can take at a hospital, EVEN if I am free to access my good ol’ lappie.

I’m holding the fort strong. I MUST be my mother’s daughter.

I hope and pray that all will be well very very soon.. the two babies, and your hubs – that they will recover in the quickest time possible. Meanwhile, be strong Mama… keep up your strength by resting as much as you can, when the others are resting, take multi-vitamins, and eat well. It won’t be like this for long.. tomorrow will be a better day ok. Big big hugs to you.
