T2 is still 6 kilos after 2 months. *sigh* I do hope she doesn’t fall under the category of ‘failure to thrive’ because that would really be worrying as we not only don’t have Medicare supplement but honestly, a healthy baby is all we ask for!

Everyone who looks at her says she doesn’t look too bad and her eyes are bright and she is moving around as normal, flapping her hands and legs, playing with her fingers, sticking them into all sorts of places, grabbing objects and exploring etc. She just can’t sit yet but since she was 5 weeks early, that is ok too.

Failure to thrive may be caused by several factors including an infection in the gut or some growth in her intestines that is not allowing them to absorb the important nutrients that she needs to grow. It could also be a metabolic disorder that disallows the child to derive energy from its food.

If T2 doesn’t gain weight by month 7, then she’ll have to be hospitalised and fed through a tube. People tell me all the time that she is fine and will be fine, but how can a mother not worry.
