After a very scary snake experience, my first night in Chiangmai scarred me for life. We arrived at the following restaurant for dinner. When we are in Thailand, we usually leave it up to our host to make the meal plans.
It was a house – how interesting. A restaurant in a house, right in the middle smack in a residential area. Very quiet, very serene…..
.
It had impressive landscaping.
.
And we fell in love with the surroundings almost immediately. So much space for Tee to run around.
.
Deep fried fish with some chilli sauce on the side. Really glorious.
.
Spicy prawns and seafood in sauce with lots of vegetables.
.
Famous Thai deep fried fluffy egg with chilli sauce on side.
.
Prawns and mushrooms.
At which point, I put my camera away cuz I was too busy feeding Tee and loving the food so didn’t get the chance to finish all the dishes that came later. After a hearty meal which left us all stuffed to the brim, we finally left the restaurant to go for a massage and to walk the night bazaar when someone said, “Snake.” Very calmly.
Of course, Tee and I picked up on it just as quickly; me, anxious if they were just talking about my yesterday’s experience or if there was really one right then, and Tee, just being nosey as usual, “Where” Where? Where’s the snake?”
When I realised that there really was one, just right outside the restaurant albeit a harmless one, the screams began. I jumped into the thankfully high car and locked all doors again. I didn’t even see the snake but according to everyone else, there really was one, a grass snake. And Tee took delight in frightening me again in the car.
“SSsssss……slithewy snake, Mommy!! I’m a slithewy snake!! SSsssss…..!!! I’m not afwaid of snakes, wite, Nana???”
What an absolute Bitch.
