Air Conditioning in Cars

My two girls are Eskimos. Many a time, they complain that they are too hot and get impatient, especially the little one, who would moan and whine, “Mama, please hurry up! I’m hot!! Turn the Air Cond on!!” But since I’ brought T1 to Yangon where cars and taxis have no classic air conditioning, she has stopped complaining about being hot. You’d be lucky to get any kind of classic auto air in that 30 year backward city through no fault of their own. They don’t even have proper traffic lights and the streets are in a mess right now because they have just allowed foreign cars to start getting imported in. The cars know not where to go at any one time! Very dangerous! It’s just a mish mesh of cars at varying speeds on the road and sometimes accidental jerks are just too common.

They remind me of my old boss who used to collect classic cars. Man, he had an entire fleet of them and whenever the Government had a function or event, they’d invite him to show off his collection of classic old cars. The problem was finding people locally who actually knew how to fix these cars! Thus I’m proud to say that I do know the one mechanic in town who is an expert on classic cars and I met him through my ex-boss. And ex-boyfriend, ho hum, who also was into classic cars.

At best, you’d find a car using vintage air in Yangon but most cars seriously cannot afford anything other than fresh air (or rather fresh smog!). I guess you kind of get used to inhaling polluted dust and sand after awhile. T1 daren’t complain after Day One in Yangon because I made her realise that all the people in Yangon lived this every single day. She has really changed for the better since our trip to Yangon. Much, MUCH less spoilt.
