What is a netbook, you may ask? Amazingly, I owned one of the pioneer netbooks many years ago made by Sony that I could dump in my handbag and brought it everywhere before kids and it was great. Except that I needed to use a pair of binoculars to actually read the screen, or was it a piece of magnifying glass, I can’t remember now. I eventually sold my netbook for a cool 2k after purchasing it for close to 8k (just imagine 8k for a tiny piece of electronics which was slow like a dinosaur since you just cannot put a fast microchip into something that small). Recently, the Government gave someone a potential contract to source for a million units of netbooks in order to give to schools in Malaysia. All I can say is somebody is going to make some big money!!!

Coming back to how to choose a netbook, well, firstly my question to you would be what do you want it to do? Is it just to surf the web and check your emails? Is it to play games on? Is it to prepare powerpoint work presentations? From there, I would be able to advise you what would best suit your budget and requirements.
