Those of you who know some Eurasians well will attest that these species of people have some concoction of blood that make them a kind of their own. I should know, I have that blood. And so does Tee. And so we all suffer together……

Of all those people who have married into our kind, they have observed and have something to say about us, my husband included. We are feisty. We have balls. Our mouths are sometimes faster than our brains, although our brains are pretty slick. We get into trouble sometimes because we are too %@&#% (I’ll leave that to your imagination).

My parents got divorced when I was 21 years old. Till today, they are still not on good terms. When I was growing up, I always felt that I was caught in the middle of their bitterness but soon, I grew up and was strong enough to tell them both off to their faces, whatever I felt. And it got me somewhere.

Now, my youngest brother who is still studying in Melbourne, is in this same situation I was in. He gets the guilt trips, he steps on egg shells, he is still a dependant; not a good situation to be in. And the moment he tells my Mom NOT to do something (like please, please don’t tell Dad but he hasn’t paid for my school fees yet and it’s 2 months late), what does she do? She’ll go right ahead and threaten my Dad with lawyer’s letters that very same second without regard to the hell my brother would then go through immediately after Dad receives this threat. This has been a broken record scenario for the last few years but to be fair, every single time that my Mom has threatened Dad, he would pay up immediately. And then give my brother hell. What do you do?

And Dad is so good at delaying payments (preferring to squirrel his dough in FDs) by giving my youngest brother guilt stories about how he has no money and has to go around town borrowing money from people just so he could have an education blablabla……he did exactly the same with me, and they were lies all along. So if he thinks he can mess with a Eurasian ex-wife, he’s got something coming……..Eurasians versus Chinese? Eurasians ALWAYS wins.
