It’s finally happened. My mother’s maid ran away today. Although I’m actually feeling quite nauseous, I am forcing myself to get off my butt to blog about this because I am SO angry.

First of all, my mom got a driver to send her to hospital this morning for her check up. 2 weeks ago, we sent her to a private hospital for a check up because we were wondering why she is so incredibly stupid. We have never in our life met such a stupid person. Lo and behold, the results came back, and she was suffering from high blood pressure. So much for all their medical check ups before they start work. It’s all a scam! If she is not fit to work, her medical results before she came to Malaysia should not have permitted her to work.

So we decided, ok, we just have to accept that she is stupid. High blood pressure does cause brain damage when untreated and perhaps she has had it for so long untreated that half her brain isn’t working. I taught her how to play the memory card game with Tee and believe me, she is stupid. Tee wins ALL THE TIME. There is just no logic to her thought process. But never mind, we will just have to keep reminding constantly and do the extra work that she makes for us. What to do? Just bad luck that we got a stupid maid!

Anyway, my mom was kind enough to pay for private medical care for this woman and gullible enough (I can’t believe this, after having maids for 35 years, Mom still trusts maids!!!) to give the maid her passport when the maid said that the Doctor in Pantai Hospital wants to see her passport. I wouldn’t have believed that!

Since Mom is always out of the house, the maid took off to the Indonesian Embassy and made a complaint that Mom hasn’t paid her for a whole year and that she gets beaten up. HAAAAAAA??????!!!!!! Gosh, I’ll bet my Mom REALLY wants to beat her up now!!! What lies…….*sigh*

She had my Mom’s house keys, free access to go in and out. Mom never laid a finger on her. Shout, yes. Trust me, if you lived with her, you’d start shouting eventually. I never believe in shouting at people, it’s inhumane……but this woman……..even a monkey is smarter than she is. But obviosuly smart enough to ask for her passport and smart enough to run away to make a complaint? I’m wondering if the agent is in on this. Yet, the maid told the driver this morning that when she was sent back to the agent’s place recently when we went away to Chiangmai, the agent beat her up.

I don’t know who’s the liar now. The maid or the agent or both.

My mom really doesn’t need this shit. She is the simplest employer to have, so laid back, so trusting. One of her previous maids was paid RM600 and had so little work that she could watch every single episode of Akademi Fantasia and more. Even when the employers were home, she would take over the TV to watch her programme, not the employer’s! That’s how my Mom spoils her maids. She gives them too little work and too much freedom, because she is always out. Any maid who has worked elsewhere would attest that she is the easiest employer. But they always take her for granted.

Mom is right now at the Indon embassy…….let’s see what happens. I just wanted to warn you that even if you are nice to a maid and give her no reason to leave you, she could still turn away from you because the lure of the agent’s money is greater. Consider yourself warned.
