Have you ever wondered how complicated it is to transport art? art moving is truly an art in itself as I can profess. The architectural model here belongs to one of the many developments that the Hubs is working on and he frequently needs to fly these very complicated cardboard models complete with electronics (lighting and effects) abroad. Sometimes, these models are larger than an eight seat dining table, not to mention heavy as hell!!! Do you think it is as simple as placing it into a box and shipping it off? No way. It takes almost 2-3 days to prime the model for transportation, a complicated process.Every little part has to be examined and treated and then the whole model has to be treated before it can be wrapped very, very delicately.
Finally, the model has to be packed really well in a timber cargo box and two people have to be flown with the model, just in case something happens at the other end. Like if a tree falls off or if something gets dented. They have to bring extra supplies for mishaps like this and this precious piece of art has to be protected with their lives till it reaches the client’s destination before they can wash their hands off it. Guess how much it costs to transport one of these models? Well above RM100,000!!! I kid you not.
Who is Mamapumpkin?
Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture. She then spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this blog of over 15 years thereafter returning to the Corporate World stronger than ever as the Country Director of a British Multinational.
