Entertaining your kids in Kuala Lumpur during the holidays!

OMG. That time of the year is here again!!! Moms! Brace yourselves!!!

My poor T1, she actually asked me today if I will be happy now that she is officially home or if I preferred her at school. She must have picked up on my conversations with adults on how I wasn’t looking forward to the school holidays. Major oops!!!

Of course, I told her it was the happiest time of my life!! And meant it. No more driving out to do the school run. No more nagging to get out of your school uniform to shower immediately after school. No more nagging to get to sleep early. It’s the holiday. We just relax and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

So.

Since we will not be traveling abroad seeing we’d done Perth and Chiang Mai last month and during the exams as well, oops, I now have to crack my head on how to entertain a very precocious little girl.

We have exactly 6 weeks with 6 weekends, so let’s start with the weekends in no particular order:

Weekend 1 – Christmas weekend with family

Weekend 2 – Melaka kampung trip (Miche, I’m really coming!)

Weekend 3 – Rapunzel party/movie screening (A big THANK YOU to the darling who gave us tickets!!!)

Weekend 4 – KLCC Park Bloggers Meet

Weekend 5 – Peter Pan the Musical

Weekend 6 – ????? RUN ERRANDS!!!!

Let’s get to the days of the week. Some days SHOULD be spent at home just chilling although my girl finds this boring but she needs to be trained how to get out of boredom. I always tell her that only a boring person can get bored. It’s true! If you are one who gets bored, then obviously you are not using your brain to think what else you can do!?! So, for the rest of the week days, we shall attempt to cover the following activities:-

  1. Rock Climbing
  2. Movies – Sammy’s Adventures & Megamind
  3. KLCC Petrosains
  4. Science Centre
  5. KLCC Aquaria
  6. Hip Hop dance class with classmates
  7. Sunway Lagoon (maybe, only if I can get a gang to go. I’ve never been…..)
  8. Paper machette-ing our next year’s Halloween costume
  9. Designing, Organising and Staging a play where T1 is the main performer with T2 as supporting cast
  10. Writing and Colouring a Story Board
  11. Paint on Canvas (this won’t be finished by the holidays but it’s a start)
  12. Maybe a trip on the KL Hop On Hop Off bus since she’s wanted to do this since forever (get to know your own kampung, y’know???)
  13. Buying and measuring new school uniform/school shoes/school books for the big next year
  14. On a weekly basis, we shall have at least one swim, one trip to the park/playground and one play date
  15. She reads herself to sleep every night and whilst she has her poo so I shan’t include any reading activities. And seriously, she is way advanced in reading (she reads the Famous Five at six, the Hubs and I only read that when we were like twelve???) so I really need not worry about her reading. She even borrowed a Bahasa book from the library last week at her own initiative. I was so proud of her!!! Bahasa book, who would have imagined??!! I even asked her, what for??

Right, I think that covers enough fun. She totally deserves it. She has done SO WELL in school this year, despite it being reputed as the gruelling ‘too academically focused‘ school (straight As – Math, Science, English, Bahasa, Computers & Mandarin; although straight As at this level is a breeze, I don’t expect her to keep this up as we move on up!), she also did VERY WELL in the non-academic pursuits. She was co-emcee for her annual concert, she performed on Literacy Day, she performed for the school’s year end Xmas celebration and was ‘decoration‘ on stage when the school presented a token of books to the underprivileged children of Myanmar. She attended several field trips and watched a few movies at school including Shrek, The Little Mermaid and Lilo and Stitch (can’t remember what else). She had fun in school……she now says she doesn’t want to move up next year because she loves her teacher and wants to keep the same teacher forever. This is after moaning on the first month that her teacher was a tiger from the jungle! I secretly think she’s teacher’s pet, if there is such a thing.

All I can say is, these school holidays are going to be expensive (additional RM1500? the bulk due to the Melaka trip) and yes, it doesn’t have to be but these are the things she wants to do and well, I think she deserves it!!! I am proud of my monkey. And just as an after thought, these holiday privileges will be slowly confiscated one by one as and when any rudeness or disrespect or disobedience comes to surface. You know how it is with six year olds *wink*

What about you? What are your school holiday plans??? I don’t expect it to be as busy as ours, ours is completely OVER THE TOP!!! Poor T2, nothing planned for her. Never mind, she adores her Che-Che and will be happy to join in whatever her Che-Che does….. *grins*

Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture. She then spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this blog of over 15 years thereafter returning to the Corporate World stronger than ever as the Country Director of a British Multinational. She sets out to prove to all, that you can have anything and everything that you want; if you have that fire of desire burning within and the drive to work hard. Even better with much love.

Mamapumpkin has not only grown corporate businesses successfully in the past but has grown not one but TWO network marketing businesses in the notorious MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, achieving success in under 2 years. She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.

A beautiful life without limits.

If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.

Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.

Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.
Show your support and spread the love!

  1. T1 is a good girl. No, a GREAT girl!! You have every right to be proud of her. I am too, just to be associated with her 🙂 Hey, don’t forget the moo-moo babies gathering on the weekend of 11th Dec yes? I’ve only 2 days of annual leaves left so poor kids will be stuck in their Ah-Ma’s house driving her mad. But that’s her problem. Hah!
