Tok-Tok’s Birthday in KL

Actually, all celebrations were over and done with in Chiang Mai but when we arrived back in KL, since my cousins were still all in KL having a hullaballoo, Tok-Tok decided to organise a dinner for them since we were the host country (they were all from Australia!) but to our surprise, the hotel had known when Tok-Tok’s birthday was and surprised all of us instead! Some of my cousins were so embarrassed because they had arrived for dinner in their shorts (typical Ozzie, so laid back) only to realise that a grand celebration awaited. Ack!!

Never mind…..good food and good company, that’s all that ever matters.

The hotel had done a good job decorating the room without anyone asking them to at all.

I was impressed with the little details……maybe I’ll have a birthday dinner like that next year? See if they decorate the place for me?

The space was even lit with little candles all over the place. This is T1 doing her Happy Birthday Tok-Tok greeting.

The table was SO BIG that we needed telephone intercoms to communicate from one end to another. I had to pull out my binoculars to see who was seated opposite. SERIOUSLY!! They even had a fresh bouquet of flowers in the middle, very sweet.

T2 was on her best behaviour and fed herself bread and cheese. That’s all she ever eats. In minute portions. Sometimes, she wants chok and we’ll get the hotel to make it specially for her. That is good service. Some places will just tell you to piss off. After all, if we’re paying for it, is it so difficult to boil some rice and throw in some vegetables? Hotels really should have some ready options for babies…..

After she had her bread and cheese, she was treated to chocolate fondue! She liked it, of course, can’t you tell from her face???

And not long after, she got restless and started standing on her high chair. She’s such a dare devil waiting to fall OFF. There is nothing I can do to keep her bum glued to the seat *sigh* Is the view really better standing?

A big squeeze from her sister. It was completely unintentional that they both donned grey dresses that evening but what a coincidence.

And without fail, T2 will play her favourite restaurant game of removing all the sugar packets…….oh yeah……

Another surprise awaited us when a huge ass cake was trolleyed in. I couldn’t get over the big ass candles either. I laughed so hard. First, the big ass table, now the candles? What’s up with that? They must’ve run out of little birthday candles.

Here, a closer look. Now, altogether now, laugh with me!!! Are we serious??? Cake as a candelabra……innovation at its best. Not. Ooooo…..you can see how old Tok-Tok is from here.

A slice of the cake. I really wasn’t impressed (sorry!!!). I’m a cheap cake girl. I like simple cakes. This was just too decorative for me and didn’t taste well with me. We kept wondering what the green swirly ball was and if it was edible. It sure looked like one of those rubber balls T1 buys with RM1 at the play gyms. But whaddya know? It COULD be eaten, it was white chocolate!!!

And more dessert, oh my God. Exactly a day after we returned from Chiang Mai, and I have not even been on the treadmill since. I am so dead.

My cousins bought Tok-Tok some very expensive cigars. They were smaller than the size of T1’s pencil case but cost Rm880!!! What the hell??? What a blinking waste of money!!! They got scolded. I mean, what goes into those cigars? Cocaine?

Happy Birthday Tok-Tok! We shall pray that your baldness spreads much slower. Please retire soon so we have an extra pair of hands to babysit!
