Children’s Room in Pantai

This is the room that T2 stayed in whilst we were there – RM388 per night. For that price, I could have checked into a nice hotel and had a MUCH nicer time!! Blek!!

And not risk getting infected by all the sick people in the building as well! Which is probably how T2 got sick in the first place! And just for the record, I was hearing strange things at night – I think it was the 2nd last night (thank God! Or maybe it was the last night because I don’t know how I would have survived the last night if this happened on the 2nd last night) when at around 1am, I heard wails, like women crying and wailing. I immediately assumed that it was coming from the delivery ward on the 2nd floor but then I wondered, can I hear them from so high up on the 5th floor? Then I pacified myself and said, oh, maybe the sounds are transmitted through the air-cond vents.

But then, the wails were coming from a group of women and not just one or two. It was really creepy. I wanted to call the nurse to ask them if they heard it too but chickened out because the bell was too far away and T2 was fast asleep beside me in bed.

After the women wails stopped, I heard dogs howling. Lots of them. Bloody strange, I tell you. It was very loud as well. I really, REALLY wanted to call the nurses to ask them if they heard it too but I was too scared to move! So i just closed my eyes and thought happy thoughts. It eventually stopped.

The next morning, I looked out to see if there were houses below that could be where the dog howlings came from but zilch. It was the University below and a vast expanse of fields. Very strange.

Just for the record, when I came to the same hospital for an operation in the 1980s, I had another strange experience. The TV came on by itself and buzzed all night. I was only 15 then and was too scared to move to even turn it off. Blek!

And no, I was not sleeping on the remote control. They didn’t even have remote controls then. And certainly no Astro.

T1 didn’t stay at the Children’s ward because they were out of rooms. Even shared rooms. So she had to stay at the International Ward. Blek! And the Hubs’ company does not pay for our medical bills. Thankfully, T2’s insurance had just made it one day before she got admitted so we have been told that at least, we can claim for T2’s medical bills. T1 however, did not have insurance, so we’re in the process of getting that amusement park to pay for it. It has been 2 weeks and we have not yet heard back.

Here, T1 with her best buddy from school who visited her in hospital when she had recovered. He is so sweet. Thank Heavens for great friends.
