Tee’s end of term report

It’s show off time again!

Tee dancing on stage during Assembly.

Sometimes I wonder if Tee’s teachers love her more than I do. Perhaps she shows them her good side only. Or perhaps they are just trained to handle these little monsters better than I do. The way they rave on and on about my little Tee borders on embarrassment, or is that MY problem?

Her head teacher said today that Tee was the top in class together with another boy (7 months her senior) because they grasped concepts very quickly and were able to apply them out of context. She said that she was able to pull these 2 kids apart from the rest because they really stood out, when I asked how she assessed them being top in class. It’s not like they had an assessment test, right? She said that Tee brings such exuberance to the class that she is very clearly missed on days when she is absent. To cut a long story short, she was really in awe of Tee’s performance and development.

In order to verify that this was not what she told every Mom of her kid, I double checked with a few Moms on their respective reports. They varied. You just want to know the truth, you know? Not with sugar and candy, but the real hard truth.

I discovered that Tee only knows how to understand up to 3 not 5. She can rote count up to 30 but that means nothing if she doesn’t understand the numbers. If you did math with her up to 5, she’d get slightly jumbled. Do I care? Not at this point. I know kids that can count up to 100 at her age and even recognise them up to that number, but I’m not about to go through her numbers with her. She’ll learn in her own time without me teaching her. I think my focus right now is to ensure she has the right moral values. There is plenty of time for academics.

Thus I have been very lazy these days at teaching her anything new, apart from the manners and disciplinary issues. The only stimulation she gets are from her father who teaches her processes. Still!

Many Moms spend a lot of time stimulating and teaching their kids new things everyday. Quite frankly, I just don’t have the energy.

Sigh…….being a Mom is SO hard.

But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
