I have 7 Mothercare nursing bras of various colours and 1 other Carriwell nursing bra – all given by friends as baby shower gifts, bless their hearts, because nursing bras are expensive!

What has been annoying the shit out of me though is that they all have this snap shut clasp that wakes T2 up every single time I snap it shut. SNAP!!! I hate the snapping noise because they inevitably wake T2 up every time after a feed. She can sleep through loud party noise yet the snap of the bra in total night silence wakes her enough to make her realise that the boob is no longer in her mouth! Surely they must have silent bras out there….

It’s OK during the daytime but at night, when you really need to get the feed over with as fast as possible and drug her to sleep, the last thing you want is for her to be jolted awake wanting to be carried again!

You’d think that these things were designed by Moms for Moms and they would have had the same experience but I guess not. It reminds me of Malaysian signage where the people designated to allocate signage positions are all motorcyclists on motorbikes who have an entirely different view point from car drivers. Now you know why Malaysian signage is so bad.

Why can’t these nursing bras slide shut silently or something? Now I don’t bother snapping them shut anymore. I just hook them up without securing them shut. I mean, if my boob falls out, so be it. I’d much rather have that than waking the baby.

I’ve also recently discovered how limited the range of nursing tops are in Malaysia. Everything is so ugly and boring. And I’ve discovered that nursing tops help a lot when you’re in public! I’d much rather wear a nursing top than a normal top and have some kind of hood covering, it just gets too complicated. Yet, I don’t exactly want to expose parts of my boob as I have discovered in my 2 months of nursing, that there are a lot of male perverts in KL. They stretch their heads out of windows in cars just to see bit of flesh, hoping to catch a glimpse of nipple; or they stare and stare and stare when you’re nursing in a restaurant and pretend they are not looking, but oh, you can FEEeeeeeeeeeeeeel their eyes on your chest! I honestly don’t think they are admiring the baby either.

Thus I’ve been scouting around online for more nursing tops. I have 2 so far (and boy, are they expensive!) and hope to get another 3. That would be a RM500 investment. This baby better stick it out at the boob for at least a year for it to be worth it!
