Exactly 3 days before Tee’s grand birthday party (and I say GRAND, because in all my life of almost forty years, I have never, ever had the opportunity to celebrate my birthday in a hotel before at this scale!!! And the only reason my spoilt little princess has this opportunity is because her grandparents completely dote on her and agreed to let her have her party at this venue) *shakes head*

Where was I?

Oh, exactly 3 days before the party, Tee announces that she needs a green grass skirt to wear for her party.

What?

I was so busy with baby and making party pack gifts that I didn’t even think about what she should wear. Who cares? She would be swimming anyway, right? Just pick out one of her million party dresses or just wear WHATEVER!

No, Mom. It’s a GREEN party and I really need to wear green. I want to wear a green grass skirt. Can you make one for me, please? I really need to, Mom….

SIGH………..

DOUBLE SIGH……………..

I sent the Hubs out to buy green raffia string and started figuring out how to make a grass skirt. Then got our helper to finish it off after making half of it myself. I don’t know why I just didn’t give it to her from the start!

The next day, Tee freaked out because she didn’t have a green top to go with her green grass skirt. I told her to just wear it with any of her million bikinis but the lass insisted that it needed to be green!

No, we’re not buying a green bikini for your party because you don’t even use any of your million bikinis (she prefers swimming in those sleeve and shorts swimmies as they keep her warmer).

The next thing, she was on the phone with her Nana asking if Nana could sew green sequins onto her pink bikini. Do you think Nana said no?

Of course not.

So the Hubs had to bring this skimpy pink bikini to work and prayed nobody discovered him carrying such a thing or he could be jailed for pedophilea fetish, so Nana could pick it up from him (they both work in the same building). The next day, Nana had to bring the ready made bikini back to the office to pass back to the Hubs. Can you see how we are slaves to our children?

Anyway, she was very happy with her green grass skirt and green sequins on pink bikini and then on the morning of her birthday, she wore that special outfit for like ten minutes. TEN MINUTES!! (I FUCKING KID YOU NOT!!!) and wanted to get changed to go swimming immediately, even before her guests had arrived. Oh no. She wasn’t interested in the party. She wasn’t interested in her guests. All she was interested in was swimming! Even swimming alone!!

We were so mad at her that we forbade her to swim before her guests had arrived but the constant asking of how many more minutes before I can go swim drove us to insanity that after the arrival of her 3rd guest, we relented, “It’s your day. Go do whatever the hell you want!”

And she did.

See those part flags at the back? The Hubs spent 2 days sewing 87 flags after Nana spent I don’t know how many days cutting the triangles. I had the easiest job. I chose the green hippo fabric from Ikea.
