In the year 2004, we purchased the above for RM1,500 thinking it was a great buy because it would last Tee till she was 5 years old and more importantly, it could take a weight of up to 45 kilos, which meant that no matter how Tee climbed onto it, it wouldn’t topple and she wouldn’t get hurt. Great buy. Certainly. We’ve put it to good use all this while.

The Peg Perego Pliko P3 system is made of a sturdy Italian stroller that can recline into sleeping position and comes with a car seat that can be fixed onto the stroller for newborn use. It also has 2 hoods that can completely cover the car seat/stroller so baby can sleep in peace. Plus the car seat can be used as a baby carrier and a baby rocker. Great buy. Great investment.

Tee could fit into the car seat until she was almost 2 years old since she is generally quite small before we switched her to a larger booster car seat.

Now that T2 is here, we brought out the car seat but discovered that it is not only very faded and dirty but the sponge backing has also worn off. We lent it to a relative for a year but never really checked its condition when it came back. Now T2 has to lie on a hard plastic car seat.

The Hubs went to check on getting a replacement fabric covering today and discovered that to buy the replacement fabric and seat belt alone would cost RM500. AND, we have to wait for their next shipment which arrives in TWO MONTHS time.

Previously the entire car seat sold separately from the stroller cost RM600. Now, a brand new car seat on its own cost RM999. The entire system costs RM2,400. In 5 years, the cost has increased by RM900. That’s a 60% hike in 5 years.

Now I’m wondering……was it a good buy after all?

We have since started researching how much it would cost for it to be purchased overseas, like in the US, for example. And then get someone to bring it down here for us. I don’t think posting would make sense, hahaha….Can someone tell me how much it costs in the US?

OR let T2 rough it out.

I’m inclined to choose the latter.
