Many of the rich are the least charitable

This is so true. Honestly. There are so many materially wealthy people in KL, yet majority of them are the least charitable. I know this for a fact. Many of them tycoons, preach such goodness and publicly offer donations and offerings to charitable organisations, but I often suspect a motive behind these acts. Why? Because they cannot even help their own within their staff, friends or family. So the rich just get richer……some say, it is because they are like this that is how they got rich in the first place.

Let’s say, for someone who has 10 billion in wealth, this person who gets such great service from his driver for the last 15 years, doesn’t even know how to reward his driver with a little. I mean, what’s an extra annual bonus of RM1000 to you when even a RM100 pay rise makes a big, big difference to a driver who earns RM2000 with a family of 5 to feed? So many hotels around the world but free accommodation only to those where you stand to gain?

And then you have the family who spends hundreds of thousands on costumes and high society parties licking people’s asses yet can’t tip a simple waitress who really made a difference that day when service in the entire restaurant was really slow. Why are you only nice and sweet to that lady minister when you could also be nice and sweet to the waitress, who really took good care of you? Fuck you, I hate people like you.

What about the guy who made it big and decided he was king of the family calling all the shots, despite having older siblings who were in serious financial need, parents who were suffering alone, but just refuses to offer any kind of assistance to them. Worst, shuns them and refuses to acknowledge that they are of the same blood, just because he now rubs shoulders with ‘powerful’ people and cannot afford to lose face.

Oh, I could give you so many more real-life examples. Even name you the families and businesses involved. The culprits. But I refrain because God is watching. And what goes around comes around.

I am sick of it all. If there is one thing my mother has taught me, it is the act of humility and the genuine act of generosity. My Mom has nowhere near the wealth of some of these people, yet she has given so much more and touched more lives than any of these people ever will. It is really sad, what the accumulation of wealth does to a person. Very rarely do I see a genuine, normal people who are unfazed by wealth despite being very wealthy, but I’m glad to say that at least, there are still a few.

  1. Wow, mamapumpkin, you sounded very enraged.

I’ll share some of my experience with you. Don’t talk about all these tycoons or big-shot businessmen….even among my relatives….

My brother was asked to help a certain relative to work for him because that relative was short of staff. And guess how much my bro was paid? He worked from dawn to dusk, even on weekends and got paid a darn RM1000/month!!! No crap that business is no good or what-nots. People live in some big house, attend golf tournaments abroad, etc etc. And his job involved driving around and my bro had to fork out the petrol bill from his own pocket. Petrol allowance also cannot give ah… Of course, my bro quit after 2 months or so…..

Well, I guess you got my point….I will not write further because my mouth will not stop when it comes to all these…..

P.s. sorry for this comment. But like you, I cannot tolerate such nonsense either.
