How we spent the school holidays – Part 4

swim-2

Well, we swam a lot! Swimming is Tee’s all time favourite past time. She claims she can swim like a fish, a dolphin, a whale, a shark……her Mom was a professional swimmer.

In reality, she can swim. If her toes can reach the floor of the pool, that is. Despite not having any formal swimming lessons, she has come a long, long way through sheer determination. She watches people and then copies them.

swim-1

She can hold her breathe under water and she can glide up to a distance of 7 feet but when her breathe runs out, she does not know how to take a quick breathe before continuing her swim. So that is the next part she has to learn.

Although she can swim (she really can, except for the taking a breathe part), she is terrified of doing it when her feet can’t touch the ground. Just in case. She fears of drowning but I’ve told her time and again that I’d catch her if she falls. I guess she doesn’t trust me THAT much!

swim-3

Well, soon enough….Tee will really be swimming like a professional. It’s just a matter of time. I’ve been resisting swimming lessons just cause her schedule is already so tight. Besides, I can really teach her how to swim. Well, those times when I can psyche myself up into believing I’m a beach babe in a bikini!

What I’m unsure about though is if kids should learn the crawl (freestyle) first or breast stroke first? We started with the crawl anyways…….she’s getting pretty good at it.

Watch this space!
