Developing the genius in your child: Smart girls climb trees!

Many people commend me on the way that I bring T1 up because she is doing so well as a kid but seriously, little do they know that I am a lazy ass mother. Like SERIOUSLY lazy ass…….I belong right in the child abuse center. Do they have one in Malaysia? Hope not! *gulp* I’ll just pay them!

It is sheer luck that I have been blessed with a daughter who can hold her own and is resourceful enough to find things out for herself. It really is within her nature to improve herself in every way, being instinctively competitive, and this has nothing to do with me.

For example, on a daily basis, her hobby is actually to open her workbooks to do work. I encourage her to do other things but she has a mind of her own. If she feels like playing, she will play; but if she feels like doing her preschool math problems, there’s no stopping her. I just have it plain lucky. She even likes practicing her piano! Go figure……my next child will probably be the complete opposite and fail all her subjects in school!!!

Conclusion? Developing the genius in your child means being a lazy ass Mom.

Anyway, I was telling the Hubs last night how impressed I was with T1 that she completed this 300 over pages workbook withing the month and not only that, some of the work was really difficult. So difficult that even I had to really think before I could come up with answers but T1, she just breezed through them. Or is it just that my brain is plain rusty? She didn’t need any help from me at all, not that I could have been of any help….

It works out well. She does her workbooks quietly and I get to blog 🙂

I showed the Hubs 2 particular puzzles that T1 at 4 years old accomplished.

Puzzle One:

A page of 5 dogs stacked vertically. 3 clues are given and you are supposed to name all the dogs through a process of elimination. The clues are: Hero is at the bottom. Rags is in the middle. Paco is under Duke. Where is Fido?

The Hubs couldn’t answer the question immediately. Maybe if given more time, he could have figured it out, but it came so naturally to my clever T1. Really!!!

Puzzle Two:

Bee is to honey as cow is to__________

3 picture answers are given below – a bull, a bottle of milk and a hay stack.

T1 had answered it correctly and The Hubs answer? He said, “wait a minute, cow can also be to hay. Cows eat hay too….”

AIYOOOOOOOO!!!! Do bees eat honey or make honey????

Developing the genius in your child certainly means spending less time with the less genius of people!

So thank you God, for blessing T1 with a good set of brains. It won’t take a genius to see where she gets it from *wink*

  1. this is too funny…I still think that the way you and hubs bring her (almost like an adult) up plays a big role too. 🙂 It is all in the daily mundane stuff that she can observe?
