Last night, Tee woke up at 5am to go to the bathroom. After that, the both of us couldn’t sleep till 630am so she woke up late for school at 830am. But nevermind that.

In her sleepy state, eyes half closed, she turned to me in bed and whispered, “Mom? It doesn’t matter what you look like.” I wondered if she had learnt a moral lesson in school about liking people for their hearts and not their looks, or was it just her personal judgement of me being terribly large and full of blubber all over. (I’ve got to check with the school on that one!)

“Mmmm….?” I replied gently wanting her to go back to sleep and at the same time thinking oh no, please let’s not wake up for a chat now.

“Ya….it doesn’t matter what you look like, Mom. All I want from you is your love and for you to be close to me.” my 4.5 year old whispered back.

WOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooshhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

This powerful wave of joy enveloped me and I couldn’t help kissing her at least a thousand times, telling her how much I do love her, always and forever.

All thoughts of sending her to boarding school vanished before me, all the angry moments of wanting to bring out the cane, screams of frustrations, giving her away to an orphanage; they all just went poof.

I was made to be complete putty.

The Hubs knows her better, of course. His take on it would be that she has something planned up her sleeves as she has done this many a time, turned us into sweet sugary souls before jumping to the kill.

Oh, he’s just jealous!

She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
