The Doctor struck up conversation with Tee after not having seen her for quite awhile so he wanted to check on her physically and mentally. He also questioned us about how she has been fairing at school and we told him that she was in a class with 6 year olds and did not like it as she did not like the fact that she was the youngest and she did not like the fact that she was the shortest and the smallest sized.

Poor thing.

So the Doctor said that for overachievers like Tee, we should consider sending her to a school where other languages are taught, preferable as a first language. Like a French school or a Mandarin school but make sure she is within peers of the same age. Reason is because Tee is too smart for her own good and when this is the case, she gets bored easily. And when she gets bored easily, she will eventually start getting demotivated and once you lose that love of learning, it’s very hard to get it back.

Sigh…..He totally stressed us out.

He also said that younger children shouldn’t be with older children because it causes emotional setbacks as their motor skills are developing at different rates and despite the fact that they are smarter than the older ones, they will still feel the setbacks because the older kids can run faster and better etc etc etc.

So how?

We already decided that we didn’t want her to attend Chinese school as we don’t believe in their approach of teaching. Many of my friends locally and abroad who employ Chinese School students even if they graduate from International Universities, find that when they are in Chinese School too long, they tend not to know how to think and take charge. They are very good workers and followers but if you don’t give them very specific instructions, they get a bit lost. This may be a generalisation but the statistics have proven it that way so far.

Sigh……..stress!!!
