Birthday Parties are all about Party Packs

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem with having your kid grow up in an affluent environment, and I’m not saying mine is, is that they learn to expect things like party packs. Some of the kids I know, have the grandest of birthday parties resulting in over RM30,000 worth of cost. It is ludicrous, ridiculous and downright selfish. Even my own WEDDING cost less than that!!!

And then, when your kid keeps attending such parties, they only know that they walk away always with a party pack, so much so that should they attend a party God forbid, and there isn’t one, they are asking the world, “WHERE’S MY PARTY PACK?? WHERE’S MY PARTY PACK? HOW COME I DON’T HAVE A PARTY PACK??!!” Some kids even complain, “How come my party pack doesn’t have candy? What a lousy party, lousy party pack.”

To those kids, it’s like having a bed. What do you mean he doesn’t have a bed? Everybody has a bed! Sorry to burst your bubble, kiddo, but some people actually sleep in drains.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven’t already taught your children, please put it on the agenda that kids need to learn that birthday parties are not about party packs. Birthday parties are to create an experience for the memory of the birthday person. It is not about getting and receiving presents either!

And what is the purpose of the party pack? To thank the person for attending the party. And this can be done by offering a party pack, sending a thank you card or by simply saying ‘thank you’.

Having said that, I was thinking how cool one of these would be inside a party pack. My Mom brought this all the way back from Indonesia where things are much cheaper.

It’s a colour pencil pen that Moms can slip inside their handbags for kids entertainment whilst waiting for meals, rather than carrying a whole colouring pencil box!

So…..? What’s the verdict for her 5th birthday party since we didn’t have a party this year? Do you think we should host a party? Tee is already saying she is almost 5 when she just turned 4. Her life is too good.
