Working from Home in KL

Some people think I have a dream job and in many ways it is as I get to work from home where my kids are. Although they go to school now, they still have Mama at home when they come home. They still have Mama for cuddles at any time. They still have Mama to go to for any problems they might have. And whatever the reason, Mama is there.

However, the pitfalls are that it can be a pain in the ass too. You try working with kids at home? Which is why I work best when they are asleep but on top of that, sometimes I just WISH I worked at an office!!! I miss the face-to-face interaction with other adults, I miss the office camaraderie between colleagues, I miss the no kids allowed space. Yet the benefits are that I miss the traffic jams to work, I miss the time wasted on getting dressed to go to work including the laundry and ironing of work clothes and I can seriously work flexi-hours which is fantastic. But again, the down side to that is that I do not know where to cut off work time and home time so I end up working more 12-16 hours every day!!!

So, would you prefer to work from home or work at the office? Believe me, the grass is always greener……..

  1. I think you need a combination. I like my four days at work for the interaction with colleagues, face to face discussions and other distractions. My 1 day at home is to catch up on documents – reviewing or writing. Plus I get to do the school runs and catch up with my girls. Cuddles are a bonus too.
