I found out yesterday that I am a Eurasian. Yes, really!

My great-grandmother was Portuguese.

And then I found out that as a Eurasian, I am entitled to invest in the ASB, which is the glorified savings account that offers MUCH better interest rates than our lousy fixed deposit bank rates of 3%. However, this ASB account is reserved for BUMIPUTERAS only. All this while, I assumed that BUMIPUTERA meant Malay Muslims born in Malaysia. Now, I’m being told that as a Eurasian, I am the MINORITY BUMIPUTERA and am indeed eligible for ASB. Of course, you can get possibly better returns from the stock market…….but you can also lose it. In short, it isn’t deadly guaranteed. But with ASB, it’s almost like an FD. It’s not an FD, but it’s 99.99% safe.

The trick is to diversify your savings. One third in property, one third in financial investments and one third in cash.

I must say I was really pleased to learn that and immediately looked into the matter.

OK, I know I don’t look it and the Hubs promised that I will get trouble since I look like a China Apek, thus they would never believe I was Eurasian. Such faith he has in me! He is just jealous, I swear! That my kids and I will be getting more than 7% interest on our money and he is stuck with 3.
