RIP to the Woo Matriarch of Teluk Intan

Last Sunday, my Ama passed away in her sleep. It was a day of mixed emotions; happy that she no longer has to stay in hospital bored out of her mind, happy that she no longer gas to suffer the pain of bed sores and unhealing wounds, and broken skin (because the skin is SO old that it tears when touched), and happy that it is finally over. It has not been easy for the family to visit Ama daily as she has been there for more than a quarter of the year. I, for one, did not visit her daily. It would have been impossible for me. With such busy schedules, it really was a challenge. But a challenge that I was happy to take on and now am very glad I did.

Of all our trips to the hospital, the girls always did the same thing. Run up and down the hospital corridors providing noise to the aged. OK, they were not noisy, really; or would have been kicked out in a jiffy. They’d play water at the sink outside the bedroom pretending to wash their hands, though Mommy knew better, although T1 said in hospitals you need to keep your hands very sanitised. They entertained Ama by smiling at her and high-5-ing her, and providing humour to Ama’s joy simply by being themselves, their monkey selves that is. If you ever needed to hire a clown, just borrow my girls for an hour or two.

Playing with Ama’s wheel chair…..

.

Watching TV. NOBODY else asks for TV except my girls. Ama does not mind, of course. She always offers them biscuits……

.

This was the last time we saw Ama, a week before she passed on. Her skin was beginning to deteriorate, becoming flaky and scabby, but the woman still wore earings!!! Ama was a proud lady who liked to look good. We were meant to visit her that very weekend she passed away but did not make it on time.

.

After every hospital visit, where we’d stay a few hours, the girls always passed out before their dinner. And shower sometimes!!! But I’d wake them up after the long traffic jam home. There is no way I’d allow them to sleep without removing all the viruses brought back from the hospital. In fact, T2 got sick twice from these hospital visits and me, in turn…..

.

My Ama, she was gentle, loving and STRONG; and she never said a bad word about anybody, not a single negative utter or complaint. If there was a lesson to be learnt from her, this was surely it.

May you rest in peace. You will be sadly missed and I wish I had visited you more even though we had that communication gap because my Cantonese is so lousy. I did not want to write a sentimental tear jerking post because Ama would not have wanted that. She was an amazingly positive woman instructing everyone not to visit her after she’d passed. That is a hint that you should do it when one is alive. And she was so right……

I’m glad Ama got to live through her birthday this year which is what I had prayed for. We celebrated her birthday in the function room of the hospital, just family.

Who is Mamapumpkin?
Mamapumpkin spent 7 years in London committing crimes to gain her Bartlett degree in Architecture. She then spent 7 years as a Stay At Home Mom raising her children as documented in this blog of over 15 years thereafter returning to the Corporate World stronger than ever as the Country Director of a British Multinational. She sets out to prove to all, that you can have anything and everything that you want; if you have that fire of desire burning within and the drive to work hard. Even better with much love.

Mamapumpkin has not only grown corporate businesses successfully in the past but has grown not one but TWO network marketing businesses in the notorious MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) industry, achieving success in under 2 years. She believes in the MLM business model but realises the DRASTIC PITFALLS and great stigma attached to it, understanding EXACTLY WHY the majority would shy away (or RUN for their lives) from ANY MLM business. But open your eyes and take time to understand it intellectually, remove your hang-ups, confirm your research, and you may just want to seize an opportunity. She did. And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.

A beautiful life without limits.

If you wish to learn some tools to propel your life forward guaranteed, be brave enough to make contact as her life's purpose is to build people. She operates through a discovery call after which she will commit to helping you. Or not.

Most lose out on an opportunity because they are afraid they would be sold to, conned or whatever fear resides in their brain without even trying. And that's on them.

Mamapumpkin is a living testimony that women really can have a lot. Being financially and time free has enabled her to travel the world anytime, anywhere, doing anything, and she spends most of her days with her children, having fun, and supporting others wherever she can. Also having fun.
Show your support and spread the love!

  1. Hi Patsy,

My condolences on your loss and take care, take solace in knowing that she has gone to a better place

  2. Condolences on your loss. When my maternal grandma passed on, I missed her dearly, and had the same mixed feelings as you – at least she needn’t have to suffer anymore. May your Ama rest in peace in a better place.

    Take care Patsy.

  3. What is it about Grandmama’s who NEVER has a bad thing to say about anyone?..Mine is the same, I don’t think she has ever uttered a bad word or thought a bad thought about a person EVER. Rest in Peace, Ah Mah.
