Catching an Air Asia plane in the dark

To sleep or not to sleep. That is the blinking question….

I remember when we first flew Air Asia to ChiangMai (3 hours) with the plane leaving at 7am (because there is only ONE FLIGHT daily and if you fly MAS to ChiangMai, there is a transit at BKK which adds to a 5 hour journey), it meant we had to be at the airport by 5am, which meant we had to wake at 3am. With kids, you cannot just get up and go. There are always last minute poo-poos and last minute things to pack. I remember very clearly going to bed at midnight only to be woken again at 2am by the baby. And then what do you do? Lie in bed and wait till 3am – what else do you do?! Read? If you forced yourself to sleep, you may miss your 3 am wake up call or feel like death when you do have to get out of bed. If you didn’t sleep, it’d mean an extra hour of awake-ness……can’t win.

So when we were all set for Bangkok, again we were faced with the dilemma, to sleep or not to sleep. As I already get so little sleep, I told myself to force myself to sleep. No working, no reading. But still I hit the sack at an early midnight call. But this time, since we had checked in online, we only needed to be at the airport at 6am, which still meant a wake up time of 430am as it takes an hour by taxi to the LCCT.

At 1am (for those who cannot count, that would be exactly 1 hour after I went to bed), T2 woke up and REFUSED to go back to sleep. She kept crying and wanting the boob till she finally passed out at 3am. By which time, T1 woke up from all that crying and started her own Tamil drama because she did not want me to leave for Bangkok. I spent an hour letting her lie beside me and pacified and comforted her until I really had to get out of bed so left her sobbing on her Daddy’s chest.

SO DRAMA MY GIRLS!!!

So what do you do when you need to be awake at 3-4am to catch a flight – do you sleep? Or not?

Out of the 4 of us, I had an hours kip. Samantha had NO sleep. She stayed up to watch DVDs instead (perhaps they were porn. and perhaps she was practising her moves for Patpong. just in case.). Charlotte and Maria had about 4 hours (too little). So we were all pretty much zombified at 6am at the LCCT having a McDonalds breakfast.

HELLO BANGKOK….

Yet, we managed to have the time of our lives in Bangkok with even LESS sleep and thundering balls of laughter, until my stomach stitched, until I had asthma, until I clearly see 5 more wrinkles on my non-stopped Bangkok laughing face. I’m already planning our next trip because it was THAT GOOD.

Next trip up – Hong Kong

And no, she never went about chasing people for sales. She had a sophisticated system work for her through technology and a smartphone.

She now impacts lives authentically with proven strategies amassed through the last decade of her own transformation offering online coaching programmes and always supports the underprivileged. She believes that we can all have a life of our own desires to enable real contribution into the world. But first, one needs to understand what this all means.
