Every year when we go back to Kota Bharu, we fly MAS or Air Asia, whichever the cheaper or most convenient option at the time but lately, I’ve been itching to drive home. Just so we can have our own car to go roaming about Kota Bharu especially now that the kids are bigger and can be more interested in the heritage of Kelantan. Well, for T1’s sake anyway. We don’t feel comfortable using the cars of our in-laws because they are old cars and well, manual. So really, we are always dependent on them to take us out anywhere. One night, I had an A&W root beer float craving but had to stuff the craving back down my head and pressed it down real hard.
Yet the thought of driving amidst the Chinese New Year traffic is daunting to say the least. Can you imagine 12 hours on the road with 2 kids? We drove once and it took us 8 hours and that wasn’t during the peak season. If we do decide to do that, although highly unlikely, we would definitely need a roadside assistance plan before we depart or I wouldn’t feel safe at all.
