Last year, we were in and out of hospital quite a fair bit *knock on wood* as my girls chose to keep surprising me with accidents and illnesses *sigh* and being in hospital so often makes you naturally familiarise yourself subconsciously or consciously, with the hospital going-ons. Did you ever stop to wonder how the nurses would insert the drip into your child’s hand? Were they doing it correctly? How hygienic was the entire procedure? Were the nurses even wearing rubber gloves when they handled your child’s tubes that went in and out of her body?
Ever since those questions played in my mind, I made it a point to be more aware and more educated about the going-ons in hospitals. You just cannot be too safe these days. My mother’s cancer is getting worse slowly but surely. I am thinking that one day she may need iv access ports in her body and when that does happen, I’d like to make real sure that the nurses really know what they are doing! For one, I will do as much reading as I can about the subject now because the worst thing is to get a major bruise when they’re trying to insert the IV ports. Scary, huh? Like I said, better safe than sorry.
